Technology Policy
1. Purpose
This Technology Policy establishes the standards, principles, and guidelines that govern how Damhills Technologies Limited selects, develops, deploys, and manages technology across all projects and internal operations. It ensures consistency, security, scalability, and quality in everything we build and deliver.
2. Approved Technology Stack
We maintain a curated set of approved technologies that have been evaluated for reliability, community support, security, and alignment with our service offerings. New technologies may be introduced after formal review and approval.

3. Engineering Standards
All software developed by Damhills adheres to the following engineering principles:
Code Quality & Standards
We follow PSR-12 (PHP), ESLint configurations (JavaScript), and language-specific style guides. All code is peer-reviewed before merge. Static analysis tools (PHPStan, Psalm) are integrated into CI pipelines.
Version Control
Git is our mandatory version control system. We follow GitFlow branching strategy with feature branches, develop, staging, and main branches. All commits must have meaningful messages and reference task IDs where applicable.
Testing & QA
Projects require unit tests, integration tests, and where applicable, end-to-end tests. We use PHPUnit, Jest, Cypress, and Postman for API testing. A minimum code coverage threshold of 70% is enforced for critical modules.
CI/CD Pipelines
Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines are configured for all projects using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins. Automated testing, linting, security scanning, and deployment are part of every pipeline.
4. Data & Security Standards
Technology decisions are governed by strict security requirements. All systems must incorporate security at every layer:
Encryption
TLS 1.3 for data in transit, AES-256 for data at rest. Secrets managed via vault services.
OWASP Compliance
All applications are developed following OWASP Top 10 guidelines. Regular penetration testing and vulnerability assessments.
Access Control
Role-based access control (RBAC), least-privilege principles, MFA enforced for all production systems.
5. Innovation & Research
Damhills allocates dedicated time and resources for technology research and innovation. Our team regularly evaluates emerging technologies — including artificial intelligence, machine learning, IoT, and blockchain — to assess their applicability to client solutions.
We encourage a culture of experimentation through internal hack days, proof-of-concept projects, and technology sharing sessions. Breakthrough innovations that demonstrate business value are fast-tracked for integration into our service offerings.
6. Open Source Commitment
Damhills is a strong advocate of open-source software. We contribute to and maintain several open-source libraries and tools. When selecting dependencies for client projects, we prefer well-maintained open-source solutions with active communities and permissive licensing.
All open-source dependencies are tracked, audited for vulnerabilities, and kept up to date through automated tooling (Dependabot, Renovate).
7. Policy Governance
This Technology Policy is reviewed quarterly by the CTO and senior engineering leads. Updates are made to reflect evolving best practices, new threats, and emerging technologies. All team members are required to acknowledge and comply with this policy.
Exceptions to this policy require written approval from the CTO and must include a documented risk assessment and mitigation plan.
